Hace unas semanas me reuní con uno de mis deportistas para hablar de futuros objetivos y reflexionar sobre lo que llevábamos de temporada. Me dijo que le gustaría meter algo más de competición, algunas carreras populares… Rápidamente le hice ver que su objetivo real de esta temporada era el de progresar como triatleta y que meter demasiada competición, preparándola de forma específica, nos alejaría de nuestros objetivos. Además, veníamos ya de una semana de descarga, tras el duatlón de Yecla donde acabó con la moral minada.

Así que mi respuesta fue: “Ok, vas a ir a esa carrera que te apetece, pero esa semana nada de supercompensación, va a ser semana de carga, y la carrera la vamos a utilizar como entrenamiento de calidad. Además, vamos a aprovechar y el día de antes te toca machaque de bici; que tu cuerpo sepa lo que es correr después de tener las piernas agotadas”.

Sin dudarlo aceptó. Es joven, el más joven de los deportistas que entreno, y su espíritu competitivo le hace aceptar cualquier reto.

La semana fue movidita: entrenamientos de natación (disciplina que más le carga), entrenamientos de carrera (con series incluidas) y el sábado salida de 3 horas en bici a ritmo alegre. Es decir, esta planificación se aleja bastante de lo que es una preparación para una competición de carrera a pie.

Alguien podría decir, ¿A quién se le ocurre meter semejante semana con una carrera el Domingo? Pues a mi, a Óscar Requena, al responsable de SuperEntrenos y a la persona que no se le olvida el objetivo principal de cada deportista. ¿Quieres triatlón? Pues toma 2 tazas!
