Cuando uno de tus deportistas más entregado te “pide permiso” para ver si en vez de hacer el entrenamiento que le toca, puede subir a La Sagra haciendo trekking, a casi 2400m, a disfrutar del paquetón de nieve que ha caído, es que las cosas van muy bien.

Y si este mismo deportista te comenta que se va de viaje con los amigos  y no podrá entrenar nada durante 3-4 días, sólo me quedan 2 opciones como entrenador: “encabronarme” porque no está cumpliendo con la planificación que le mando a principio de mes, o darle la vuelta al asunto, modificar entrenos y hacer coincidir esos días que no podrá entrenar con la semana de descarga que tenía prevista para la semana anterior.

¿Cuál ha sido mi decisión? creo que está clara. Seguimos metiendo carga durante la semana que tenia de asimilación y retrasamos ésta una semana.

Para poder tomar esta decisión influyen diferentes factores:

  • Estar dispuesto a hacer una planificación flexible y modificarla cada vez que se requiera, ya sea por lesiones, por imprevistos en las adaptaciones del deportista, o por cualquier otra circunstancia personal.
  • Comunicación constante con el deportista. De no ser así, habría sido imposible estar al día de los planes de éste joven y no habríamos podido aprovechar el tiempo entrenando como se debe. Simplemente habríamos perdido una semana de entrenamiento.
  • Total confianza entre deportista-entrenador a la hora de poner en mis manos si hacer una actividad que le apetecía de verdad, como es subir a La Sagra, o si era mejor continuar con la planificación prevista.

Hay que estar muy volcado con tu trabajo como entrenador para estar abierto a las circunstancias de cada uno, pero sólo así podremos sacar el máximo partido de cada deportista.

Yo lo tengo claro, si me dedico a entrenar a gente, es porque me gusta y si he de rehacer una planificación lo hago sin ningún problema.

Estoy totalmente convencido de que la clave del éxito es disfrutar con lo que se hace, sólo así se puede dar el 200%. Yo disfruto con lo que hago y creo que mis deportistas lo perciben y se contagian.

Individualizar al máximo, atendiendo a todas las circunstancias, y sobretodo diseñar una planificación abierta y flexible, es mi seña de identidad.
